Light contracts to a point. Lily Evans walks out of the light mist.
George (Blurting out):
You're Steve's ex, Lily? Didn't you die five years ago?
George (Whispering to self):
Wait... how do I know this? Who told me?
Lily Evans (Sighs):
It's not that you know, it's that Steve believes it. You are standing in his dream; his emotions and memories are projected directly onto you.
Lily:
He thinks I died because I was diagnosed with late-stage skin cancer. Doctors said I wouldn't last two months. I left him, went abroad for treatment alone, and never contacted him again. He assumes I'm dead.
George:
You left without saying goodbye to...
Lily:
To let him move on. I couldn't let him watch me die.
Lily:
Miraculously, I recovered. I went to find him, but found Steve had a new family. I didn't disturb him.
George:
I understand. You should find him. He needs to find you. Steve's life still has meaning.
The dream disintegrates. George feels a strong premonition: Steve isn't just living for the family in front of him. Deep down, he has an unfinished love. Lily is the key to Steve's survival.
